What
do parents and students have to do to apply for the HOPE scholarship?
In order to apply for the HOPE scholarship, parents
and students have to complete one of two options. We strongly suggest
parents and students do both. Students and parents should complete the
Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FAFSA). Students should complete
the E-HOPE application on line with the Georgia School Finance Commission
or submit the paper version. For more information visit
the Georgia School Finance Commission website.
- Students and parents should complete the FAFSA
as soon as possible beginning in January of the students' senior
year. Students and parents must complete the
FAFSA online.
Income tax information from the previous year is necessary in
order to complete the FAFSA, though the tax forms do not have
to be filed in order to submit the FAFSA.
- Students should complete the Georgia School Finance
Commission's E-HOPE application during their senior year. Here are the
steps to take:
:
- Sign in to your account on www.gacollege411.org.
- Select "Financial Aid Planning."
- Select "GSFAPPS"
- Select "HOPE" and follow instructions.
Remember, you must
take one of the two actions described above. We strongly recommend that
you do both. The E-HOPE application is quick and easy. The FAFSA makes
it possible for you to apply for student loans and many other scholarships
require that you complete FAFSA to receive funds.
What
is the school's responsibility for students to receive the HOPE scholarship?
The school uploads transcripts to the Georgia School
Finance Commission (GSFC.) The GSFC calculates the HOPE grade point average. |
