College Applications by Thanksgiving:
Students should submit
applications to colleges by Thanksgiving, even when deadlines
are months from now. By applying early, students are able to attend
orientations early, which allows for much better course selection
for the freshman year in college. Dormitory selection is also
greatly enhanced by early application. The University of Georgia's
application deadline is January 15. Students who wait until we
return from the holidays to apply may not be able to have all
material submitted by the deadline. Submit applications
before the turkey goes in the oven!

Entrance Requirements Have changed:
The
admissions department at the University of Georgia has just announced
that the writing portion of the SAT and ACT will be required and
used for admissions decisions. Students who have taken the SAT
automatically took the writing portion of the test. However, the
writing portion on the ACT is optional. Students who are applying
to the University of Georgia and took the ACT only, and did not
take the optional writing portion, must retake the ACT or take
the SAT.
